We would like to say an enormous Thank You for making our daughter Carols wedding last saturday run so smoothly.  We knew we would get good service but it all far exceeded our expectations.
 
The Staff were all so attentive, especially to my Mother in Law who is quite handicapped, she has asked me to pass on her thanks.

A great big huge thanks for making Gilly and Guys day so special.  The service was excellent and am pleased to say Guys Grandpa is safely back home!  The discreet way everyone dealt with it was remarkable and very few knew of the drama going on behind the scenes!
Gilly and Guy have done their first safari and loved it so their honeymoon is well under way.
We have had many calls and cards to say how much the day was enjoyed by all.  I know the hard work that goes in to making these events look relaxed and seamless.
I hope that you were not too exhausted!

We celebrated our wedding at Nunsmere earlier in August, and can honestly say the whole day was fantastic.

Compared to other venues, we found everyone at Nunsmere very helpful, and extremely keen to make sure everything was as we wanted it to be.

The service on the day was friendly, attentive and made the whole experience wonderful.

We wanted our wedding to be about us, with our own take on the day. Unlike some other locations we liked the fact that Nunsmere didn't dictate what they thought we should do. Our wedding co-ordinator, Stephanie was fantastic. She always gave us very clear, concise answers, and almost every time she allowed us to do what we wanted - giving helpful, constructive advice along the way.

I can't think of any point on which to criticise out time at Nunsmere - the food was excellent, the service very friendly, efficient, and professional, and the hotel staff went out of their way to make sure that the room for the bride and her family was made available as soon as possible to get the preparations under way. All the rooms provided for guests were better than we were expecting, and everyone was very happy with the standard of accommodation.

We took advantage of using Helen, the florist who does the arrangements for the hotel on a regular basis, and this proved to be a very wise move. Everyone commented on how good the flower arrangements were, and they made the day extra-special.

My wife (!) particularly liked the way the staff asked her throughout the day if everything was okay - using her new married name. They also clearly knew a number of the guests by name at very short notice, and were able to cope with a mixed menu and varied special dietary requirements without any hesitation.

In the evening, we threw the doors open onto the garden, and let the children run around and explore the grounds. I will remember the sound of the children laughing and playing happily in the twilight for many years to come.

I have no intention of getting married again, obviously, but I would willingly do so at Nunsmere just to enjoy the experience all over again. If you want a wedding that is personal, professional and definitely going to exceed your expectations, then this is the place.

I'm really happy I chose to get married here, and would recommend it as a venue for anyone thinking of doing the same. Thanks you so very much for making our special day so memorable.

We have just arrived back from our lovely honeymoon.
Phil and I wanted to thank you again for all your efforts in helping organise our wedding on 30 June as well as the BBQ the night before and all of the accommodation. It was a fantastic couple of days, especially the wedding and everything we wanted and could have hoped for. We are so grateful to you and your team for helping to make it so perfect. You all worked tirelessly to ensure everything was just right. The service we received from Nunsmere Hall was exceptional. You made us and all our guests feel very welcome and relaxed. All the staff were so warm, friendly and reliable. We have received so much positive feedback from the guests at our wedding telling us how wonderful everything was and how much they enjoyed the venue, Nunsmere Hall. Right from our first visit we were blown away by how magnificent Nunsmere Hall was and we knew it would be the perfect place for our wedding.
Thank you especially to you, Becky, for understanding our vision and for making everything happen so seamlessly. It was an absolute pleasure to work alongside you. Thank you also for going above and beyond the call of duty by driving a few of our guests to train stations, etc when they left luggage on board! Other thank-you’s go to Naomi for all her help in organising the accommodation, Stephanie for helping with the plans for the day, Rob for his excellent food and bar service, Mark, the Manager, for his great assistance, compliments to the Chef for creating a wonderful menu and thanks also to your lovely porter.
It truly was a wonderful wedding and we have so many happy memories that we will treasure forever.
We would not hesitate in recommending Nunsmere Hall as a wedding venue to other people and we look forward to visiting the hotel again in the future.

I would like to thank Rob and Chris who looked after us so well at the two dinners and not least the chef and his team who produced delicious and beautifully presented food.  I am also grateful to Pavlina and Kate who were quite unflappable and very organised in delivering excellent breakfasts.

All in all, our tour was a great success and I am hugely grateful to you for your very real contribution to that.  I'm very happy to spread the word (indeed, I have to make a report to HQ) and as a result you may have to put up with other counties who decide to follow where Gloucestershire has led!

We wanted to send you a note just to say what an absolutely perfect wedding day we had at Nunsmere on 14 May.  Right from our first visit to the venue we were blown away by what a beautiful place it is and all throughout the planning of our wedding, we could not have faulted the service we have had from you on every level.  With so many particularl (and sometimes tedious) requests you have acted as true professionals and we are so glad that we had the opportunity to deal with reliable, efficient and friendly staff such as yourselves.
All of our guests were thoroughly impressed with the venue and compliments must go to the Chef for providing some of the finest cuisine many of us have ever eaten.
When we first began looking for a venue for our wedding 15 months ago, Nunsmere stood out from the crowd as you offer such a professional and personalised service to allow the wedding to suit the individual rather than a set package like so many other places offer.
There is not a single thing we would have changed on the day.  It really was perfect and a real pleasure to work alongside such conscientious people, especially Becky w ho dealt with the planning stages of the day and Stephanie who made it run seamlessly on the day.
We will look forward to returning to Nunsmere around the time of our anniversary celebrations, if not before! (We might not be able to wait that long!)

We wanted to write to thank you and your staff for everything that was done to make our wedding so special and run so smoothly.
Everything about the venue was fabulous, and of course we were so lucky with the weather on the day.
We would like you to know that your staff performed outstandingly both in the planning of the wedding and on the day itself.  We would like to thank, if we may, through you all the staff who worked throughout the day and on the night, and of course Melvin who was unfailingly helpful and courteous.
In particular we would like specifically to thank Stephanie and Becky, both of whom were involved in the detailed and careful planning.  Both were extremely helpful.  Overall, we dealt with Stephanie more than anyone else, and we would like you to know that she was absolutely outstanding.  She was at all times helpful, calm and efficient, and did everything that we could have asked of her.  Her professionalism throughout was supplemented with a sense of humour which took the worry and stress out of the situation.
Everything, from start to finish, went exactly as planned and just as we had wanted.  Looking back on it, we wouldn’t change a thing.  We had a wonderful day and that was due largely to the hard work and professionalism of your staff.  We would like to say a very big thank you to everyone involved.

Bill and I held our wedding reception here at the end of April 2010.
The first time we visited Nunsmere was one Sunday lunch time, having spent a dispiriting full day on the Saturday and all Sunday morning being thoroughly disappointed by the standard of offer and customer service at other local hotels. The options were limited and totally unsuited to our plans for a stylish, black tie evening event.  And then we spotted Nunsmere Hall, as we were driving home.
We drove into beautiful grounds and ventured into the impressive lobby. As we were greeted at Reception, we were asked if we were booked in for lunch; already liking the ambience we decided to give it a go, since it’s a great way to test a hotel.  It turned out to be a Jazz lunch, and the standard of music and food were exceptional – and the customer service complemented both superbly.
So we arranged to meet Becky to discuss a possible booking, and our pleasure in the venue grew. From choosing the room for the event, our bridal suite, the menu, layout and order of events, Becky and the staff could not have been more helpful. The sommelier advice we received was peerless – in fact we so enjoyed that discussion that as we drove home that afternoon we rang the hotel back to arrange to go for dinner that evening!
In the final run up, Becky continued to be patient, helpful and cheerful. Despite knowing that she manages a busy schedule, we always felt that our event was personally important to her and trusted her without reservation. On the day there wasn’t a single glitch – the staff were tremendous – good-natured, helpful, warm.
We’re not youngsters and are not easily impressed these days, but Nunsmere bowled us over in every aspect.
At the time of writing. it’s ten weeks since the wedding but our guests are still talking about the event.
For us, Nunsmere made the most special day of our lives memorable forever.

I promised that I would write to you with my opinion as to the way that Nunsmere Hall looked after us for our annual retreat.
From the start, Becky was attentive and very helpful to me in organising the whole programme.
We were welcomed and made welcome from the time we crossed the threshold until the time we left.
The bedrooms received universal acclaim and everyone was delighted with the style, comfort and general ambiance.
The food selections were very well received, the service at dinner was unobtrusive and efficient, and the menus for lunch and breakfast again most enjoyable.
If I have any even slightly negative  thoughts they are no more than nit-picking and I am not prepared to do that.
Finally, congratulations to you and your staff – we had a great time and I am sure that there will be a vote to come back next year.

We stayed at Nunsmere over the Valentine's weekend and we couldn't have been treated any better. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The food is excellent, cooked to perfection, very well presented and tastes sublime; the dark chocolate creme brulee is to die for!!!! The staff are well trained and very polite - they really make you feel like a guest and not just someone staying at the hotel.

Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would definitely recommend it too anyone planning a romantic weekend away.

Just a note to let you know something good. We spent last weekend Friday/Saturday at Nunsmere Hall where we had a wonderful weekend.   The reception staff and bar staff - well I think the management have a right to be very proud of each and every one of them.    We stayed in two beautiful rooms Elm and Hydrangea
What can I say about the dining it was something else - totally fantastic.    We enjoyed the pork belly so much all four of us had it on both nights,followed by the delicious crisp apple tart and parsnip ice cream - all simply to die for. I would be delighted if your wonderful Chef Mr Malone would forward me the recipe for these two beautiful dishes, as I like to entertain as often as I can.

By the way I am not a chef and if he is willing to send the recipes simple terms would be appreciated! I will recommend Nunsmere Hall to all my friends and indeed anyone who likes a very relaxing and pampered weekend.

My wife and I would like to send our many thanks for the wonderful overnight stay we had - I must say how nice and polite the staff were. They were so willing to assist us with anything we needed. Nunsmere has a marvellous woodland setting and a surrounding lake. Nunsmere Hall itself has a mystique atmosphere all of its own. The rooms are a delight to stay in. If you have never slept in one of their beds then you have never been to heaven and back. The palatial bedrooms and luxurious bath rooms are out of this world. Can I mention the absolutely delicious and scrumptious (not forgetting tasty) food we ate. May I repeat myself in saying once again it was a delight to stay at Nuns mere. The stay we had was to celebrate my wife's 70th Birthday. Thanks to all. 

Belated though it may be, I am writing to let you know what a wonderful time we had at your hotel and how fabulous the food was. 
We were so taken with the building itself and the grounds in which it nestled so comfortably.  Unfortunately, it was raining on Saturday morning and we were unable to walk round them and really appreciate them. 
We were so well looked after and welcomed by the staff and the rooms were divine. 
All of the above (except the rain on Saturday morning) only served to heighten the anticipation of the meal which was the reason we were there. 
What can I say?  Every course was a gourmet's delight and every wine served with each course was delightful.  My elder daughter, Maria, the vegetarian, loved everything she had and said it was the best food she had had since becoming vegetarian.   
My younger daughter who did not want the duck or the veal, but was prepared to try the lobster, declared the lobster exceedingly good and loved her choice of beef for the main course. 
My one regret is that we were unable to speak to Craig personally to tell him how wonderful we thought all the food was.  I wonder if you would be kind enough to let him know how much we appreciated and enjoyed every aspect of the meal which was surprising and utterly delicious on every level. 
I have told everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, about our visit and the exquisite food and have unreservedly recommended the hotel. 
That Friday morning I visited a wholesaler in Stockport.  I shall certainly be telling them about the Nunsmere Hall Hotel next time I am there before Christmas.  I hope I will have time to pop in for one of your afternoon teas! 
I have two shops here in Worksop, one sells bridalwear and the other is a florist.  I would just like to say how lovely it was to see flowers being used in abundance everywhere in the hotel.  Unfortunately flowers are one area that people have cut back on in these times of crisis.

Thank you yet again for a super weekend.   It was our fifth stay with you and we were not disappointed.
The staff, again, exceptional - they make you feel so welcome from the second you arrive.
The room we stay in is lovely, very well maintained and very clean.   Everything kept to a very high standard.
We were served in the dining room by a young man who was very polite and efficient.   Unfortunately we did not see him when we checked out to say thankyou for looking after us so well.
Also thank you again to Will who is without doubt a credit to the hotel.
The food again faultless, superbly presented and cooked.  It is so nice to stay somewhere that uses such fresh produce, no frozen food in sight.   Our evening meals superb, the monkfish on Saturday exceptional.  The cooked breakfast is a real treat.  We are so pleased the standard has not changed since the hotel was taken over.

Finally back in the office after a mad dash along the south coast for two days of meetings, ship tours and conferences etc.
Just want to say how much Kate and I enjoyed (and appreciated) our stay at Nunsmere. We both commented that the hotel has an unique atmosphere and a stay there is more like a weekend in a country house than a hotel. Well done Mark to you and your team for a splendid weekend.
According to Kate, you were the perfect host - she is still amazed how quickly the amazing spread at the Cunard building appeared without anyone noticing!
Will get a report in the next issue and, space permitting, will also mention your next event!

It hardly seems a week since we were enjoying the evening at Nunsmere and I realise that I have not been in touch with you to say thank you. 
The entire evening went exactly to plan and I have heard nothing but compliments from everyone who attended.  The RMS Queen Mary theme added a nice touch to link in the building, the menu and our entertainers (who spend most of their working careers at sea on the cruise liners).  I am especially grateful to your staff who went to great lengths to sort out the special diet needs of a couple of our members which was most appreciated by them.
The short blast of the fire alarm which heralded the arrival of the Baked Alaska in all its flaming glory had me going for a moment (With visions of evacuating everyone into the garden).
The food was excellent, with timely service and I would ask you to pass on my sincere thanks to Craig and all of your staff who were in attendance.  I look forward to seeing you soon

We spent one night at this lovely hotel on a Sunday night during a 2 for 1 dinner offer. The reason for our stay was to spend our first night away on our own since the birth of our daughter - and a late wedding anniversary gift to ourselves! When i told the hotel this they had a lovely surprise for us - a fabulous upgrade from a standard room to a truly gorgeous four poster room with huge bathroom (TV in bathroom) overlooking their stunning gardens, the hotel was very kind to us! It was an absolute treat for us to eat really good food (without rushing), have excellent service from very friendly and professional staff, but most of all a night off from being devoted parents in such a beautiful and romantic setting. The breakfast was so delicious too. From the moment we arrived to leaving we had nothing but excellent service. We highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning in the future.

The attention to detail from you and all the staff at Nunsmere was exceptional.  On the day all the staff were so pleasant and attentive, they really made us feel like it was the only ceremony that was every held at Nunsmere - and we know that's not the case!
The venue is beautiful, we fell in love with it the 1^st time we saw it, but the staff and service are really what make it special, please pass on our thanks to everyone including the ‘behind the scenes team'.

Just wanted to get in contact following our stay with you yesterday. You may have realised, it was the weekend of my sisters 30th Birthday and although we had done various things to celebrate this over the weekend/week before, Sunday was our "family do", and was something myself and my Mum had arranged as a  surprise for her.

The day far exceeded our expectations and we had a brilliant time from the minute we arrived to the minute we departed; which incidentally none of us wanted to do!

I am an ex Sales Manager for Inter-Continental Hotels and before that worked in Conference and Banqueting Sales for several other companies. I have stayed in more hotels than I can remember , both for business and pleasure, and these include some of the alleged best and definitely the worst in the UK, Europe and beyond. With the exception of positive words on comment cards, I have never before written to advise that everything was 100% perfect and that you shouldn't change a thing!

We were impressed with the venue straight away. The building and grounds are superb and clearly  well looked after, with housekeeping standards high.

Please thank Helen again for upgrading us - both rooms were lovely and made the stay extra special.

The evening meal last night was enjoyed by all and the high quality of the ingredients, presentation and cooking  were noted by all of us. Please pass on my thanks to the Restaurant Manager  (I cant recall his name, sorry) who made sure the necessary changes to the dishes I'd opted for, due to my dairy allergy ,were carried out with the minimum of fuss, and to the chef for creating them and hopfully not swearing too much! 

Breakfast this morning ran like a dream and was again very good. 

We were looked after in the Bar yesterday afternoon and last night by  I think Will. Enjoyed his personality and the champagne! 

All the staff we encountered were pleasant, seemed to know what they were doing and also seemed happy to be at work- which isn't always the case and  from a guests perspective is massively noticable and does make  a huge difference to the atmosphere.

This is a longer email than intended, I hope you're not bored but I dont want leave anything out!

As a family we always have a good time when we're together, but it was all of the above that really made our stay so memorable. We laughed a lot- for the right resaons- and were able to relax knowing that you and your team would deal with everything else and make sure we enjoyed ourselves.  

So thanks again Mark; Jo and I would have joined you all outside last night but a week of drinking our way through the contents of  a small vineyard was catching up with both of us and Jo was worried she'd end up asleep on the terrace.

We will come back and stay with you again- as soon as possible- and wont be turning in at 1am, rest assured!  I've also passed on some glowing reports to our friends and one couple, Pete and Rachel are likely to get in contact re their wedding.

The attendees wish to convey their warm thanks for what was an extremely well executed event and very enjoyable stay at Nunsmere Hall Hotel.   They were especially pleased by the discreet and dignified atmosphere of the hotel and the superb standard of the meeting and dining rooms (The Brocklebank and The Library) as well as the very comfortable accommodation.

I just wanted to pass on my sincere thanks for such a wonderful stay on 28^th June.  My 30^th Birthday was absolutely amazing, and one that I will always remember.  Nunsmere Hall is a truly stunning hotel, and I found every single member of staff that we encountered to be so polite and friendly. The rooms were amazing, thank you so much for arranging such wonderful upgrades for us, I was in Hydrangea which was spectacular.  Also the birthday card was such a lovely and unexpected gesture. The food, the staff, the champagne, the grounds... literally everything was perfect.

I can praise the hotel or the staff high enough, and will definitely be returning hopefully many many more times!  I will certainly have no hesitation in recommending Nunsmere to friends and family.

Last night my husband and I attended the Talented Young Chef evening.  As first time visitors toNunsmere Hall, I thought I would write to say what a thoroughly enjoyable and fun evening it was.

The beautiful surroundings, the courteous staff, wonderful food and good company truly made this an evening to remember.

It was really refreshing that the management and staff took such great care to ensure that their guests had optimal enjoyment in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.  Nothing was too much trouble.

May we take this opportunity to wish you all the very best, including your young chef Jed Leck, who I am sure has a very promising future.

We will definately make a return visit to see you again in the not too distant future.

My wife and I would like to thank you for your kind invitation to the reception marking the refurbishment of Nunsmere: it was indeed a kind thought and very much appreciated.

Our congratulations on the new decor. It all seemed to meld so harmoniously that we found it difficult, even as regular visitors, to envisage what it had been like previously and yet we felt very much at home, as we always have with Nunsmere.

Judging from the conversations that we had and from the various comments we overheard during the evening the occasion was deemed a great success and it will most certainly enhance the profile and reputation of the hotel.

My husband and I have just returned from our fourth visit to your superb hotel.   From start to finish it was a faultless stay.    We arrived on 23.05.09 greeted by lovely friendly welcoming reception staff.

The Gardenia Suite again beautifully cleaned and well maintained.  The room was serviced to a very high standard - the turning down service an excellent extra.

We then decided to sit in the superb gardens.  Greeted by Mike and I think his name was Will well presented and very friendly making us feel very comfortable.

We must also comment on the splendid and impressive food.  The produce, quality and choice on the menu excellent.   The full English breakfast is a must.   The evening dinner surpassed our expectations.   We must also comment on the restaurant manager and lovely ladies - yet again splendid service.

Thank you to all the staff for a lovely weekend.  We look forward to our next visit.

We stayed here for a family wedding and it was simply out of this world. Truly historic.

We ate here three times: the night before the wedding in the private dining area, the day of the wedding we had bar food and we enjoyed the wedding reception. At each juncture the food was superb and the staff were wonderful. They were attentive, they were helpful and they were happy.

We had a large room - the size of a small house - which easily accommodated a kingsize double bed and three single beds for our children. At no stage did the room feel even remotely small or crowded. Unfortunately I did not take photographs (now regretting it) but in an ideal world this is the room I'd like to wake up in EVERY morning.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful. While we were there, many areas were covered in bluebells.

Considering the opulence of the location and the very high ratio of staff to guests, this hotel is very good value for money.

Loved it, loved it, loved it!! If I wasn't happily married to my husband, this is the place I would run off to get married in :o) A very romantic setting.

Friday the 1st of May was a most memorable dayfor me. I would like to thank you and your staff for makling it so. They were courteous and most helpful at all times, nothing was too much trouble for them. A special thankyou to Jozef, he was wonderful, also to Angela and Becky. Please pass on my thanks to them.

I have had numerous phonecalls from guests commenting on the excellent food, service and of course the lovely Hall and grounds. Everything was superb.

My Husband and I stayed at Nunsmere Hotel for 3 nights to include New Years Eve package. The hotel is set in its own grounds away from the main road and is surrounded by a lake. There are walks nearby or you can just stroll around the hotel grounds. The staff can't do enough for you however and I am sure the housekeepers came in the room twice a day even if it was to switch on your bedside lights at night. The meals are a little pricey but are worth it for the quality of the food.

We stayed in a standard double room but it felt like a suite, it was huge with a separate sitting area and TV.

New Years Eve was great with free flowing wine, champagne and beer all night. The entertainment was a male singer who kept the party dancing all night with anything from swing, Take That and Oasis. The buffet was excellent.

Breakfast was good with various options as well as your typical full English.

The lounge is very comfortable for just sitting and having a coffee in the afternoon.

I would certainly recommend this hotel for a romantic break, or a special treat

Spent one night here and thoroughly enjoyed the experience on this occasion; (had previously had issues on another visit.) The hotel is quietly situated so you are assured of a good night's sleep.

We were allocated a beautiful four-poster room which had views of the formal garden and a lovely big bathroom.

Dinner was excellent and there is an extensive wine list, which we thought to be reasonably priced.

Breakfast was very good; ordered from a menu, not buffet style. We'd certainly recommend it and hope to stay again.

Sorry for the length of time it has taken to write this, however Louise and I would like to express our enormous thanks to you for helping to make the 28th December 2008 the happiest day of our lives. We had the most incredible day and thought the organisation and service levels were faultless - we had lots of comments about how polite, helpful and friendly the staff were.

We could not have chosen a more fantastic venue and dealing with Becky was an absolute pleasure from start to finish.

We cannot wait to return again soon for a meal and a stay!

Just wanted to share our fantastic weekend at Nunsmere Hall mushroom hunting last weekend.

We initially were attracted to the hotel from the pictures on the website as it looked like the ideal venue for a romantic getaway for the weekend but when we discovered that there was a mushroom hunting package available we jumped at the chance and I can say it was one of the best experiences we've had in a long time!
-Firstly the hotel is as beautiful as the pictures suggest, long winding drive, scenic grounds to walk in, well appointed rooms and huge comfortable beds.
-The staff are fantastic, attentive and friendly, nothing seems to be too much trouble and you feel well cared for
-The food is superb and being a chef always researching I should know!
I just wanted to thank everyone involved from the staff to the other guests on our hunt especially Mark the general manager and his family for making the weekend such a great experience and our mushroom guide Fungalpunk Dave and his family for giving me a new love of fungus!
If you get the chance to visit the area I strongly reccommend a stay at Nunsmere - expensive but worth every penny!!!

I hope you managed to have a relaxing Sunday after running around after us all Saturday!

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say a huge "Thank you" to you and all the hotel staff (including Mark who at times you wouldn't believe was the hotel manager the jobs he was doing). Everything went extremely well and I just wish all hotels and staff were as efficient and as nice to work with as you guys.

We will obviously have an official de-brief meeting with our client and we are just in the process of putting together a post evaluation form on the NSL website for the guest so as soon as we have all the feedback we will pass this on to you accordingly.

Apart from that I think everything else is in hand and I'll wait to receive the final bill.

I've just got back from a fabulous weekend fungi foray at the Nunsmere Hall Hotel. As a beginners guide to the huge variety of fungi that can be found if you know where to look, it was superb. From the moment we arrived to the moment we (reluctantly) left, my friend and I had a fantastic time.

The standards of care and attention to detail were excellent. The hotel staff were without exception friendly and helpful, the food was fantastic, the rooms comfortable and the actual fungi experience was perfectly pitched, enough information to be interesting, but not too academically oriented. The inimitable Fungalpunk Dave and his very knowledgeable wife Gill and daughter Katie provided us with a real experience.

I would heartily recommend this weekend event to anyone who wants to have a wander round some lovely grounds, be entertained and educated and eat wonderful food in beautiful surroundings with some very good company!

Nunsmere Hall is a truly magnificent country house hotel which impressed from the moment we arrived up the sweeping tree lined drive. We had come to stay to celebrate a birthday and Nunsmere is a perfect venue for any celebration.

The welcome was professional but relaxed and "Gardenia" was a beautiful room with a magnificent bathroom and lovely views over the garden which I enjoyed exploring in the afternoon. The house is surrounded by very pretty gardens and a lake - I can recommend the lakeside walk!

We did not eat in the restaurant, although I would love to return in the summer and enjoy a meal on the terrace overlooking the Italianate garden on a warmer evening. We returned after dinner to drinks in the bar which had a cosy atmosphere. On retiring to "Gardenia", the lamps had been lit and the bed turned down - I love little touches like that. On waking in the morning an October mist hung across the lovely gardens which was very romantic!

Breakfast was great and included the best bacon and tomato sandwich I have had in a long time!

My only criticism was that the hotel's decor particularly in "Gardenia", whilst very charming could perhaps be a little old fashioned and overly chintzy! I understand that the hotel was previously privately owned and that the owners have now retired and sold to a hotel group. I am sure that under new and perhaps younger management there will be a fresher and more dynamic sense of style throughout the hotel which I think this lovely house deserves. This hotel is first class and I look forward to returning!

We wanted to thank each and everyone of you for making our wedding day so very very special. The venue was just amazing, the food was out of this world and everybody was very helpful. All of our guests commented on what a great day it was, even saying "how did you find Nunsmere?"

Bringing my mother to Nunsmere for Mothering Sunday was inspired! She said it was the best Mothering Sunday she had ever had! We arrived in glorious sunshine and enjoyed champagne in the bar overlooking the terrace. We then went through to the dining room where the flowers I had ordered were sitting on the table, just as I had requested. The service was seamless and the meal was excellent. The Chinon was perfect with the menus we had chosen. The lunch itself was excellent and the portion size was just right. The local beef was particularly good! All the staff were very helpful and relaxed and they helped contribute to the warm atmosphere of the day. I thought the little pumpkin and personalised letter given to each Mum was a lovely touch!

We had a lovely walk in the splendid grounds: the woodlands and gardens were full of spring flowers and my Mum loved walking down by the lake.

I was just sorry we hadn't booked to stay for tea.......! Maybe next time.....!
