Flame Finalist 2006

For once the leisure team at Matfen Hall are jumping for joy and not to keep fit. It has been announced today that Matfen Hall Spa and Leisure Club is one of the finalists in the Fitness Association's 2006 Fitness Leadership and Management Excellence Awards (FLAME). The FIA say that it is a fantastic achievement for any member to reach the finals as the FLAME Awards are the fitness industry?s most sought after commendations.

Matfen Hall Spa and Leisure Club, the only North East of England Finalist, will hear if they are the winner at a Gala Dinner taking place on 27 September 2006. \r\n\r\nThe Fitness Industry Association (FIA) is the industry body which represents over 2,000 public and private organisations across the UK. Established in 1991, this non-profit making organisation works with Government, as well as commercial and non-commercial organisations, to get more people, more active, more often.

To reach the finals the Leisure Team at Matfen Hall have completed a rigorous judging procedure, demonstrating exceptional commitment to operational standards and customer service. After completing a very detailed entry form they were subjected to a half day site visit from the judges which included:-

• One to one interviews with staff members
• One to one interviews with Matfen Hall Leisure Club Members
• A two hour presentation from the Leisure Manger

Commenting on being Shortlisted, Peter Smith Acting Leisure Manager said:

"FLAME forces you to look at every aspect of your club and being a finalist really does make us stand out from the crowd. It is a massive accolade for the Club, the staff and the members especially as we are only in the second year of operation."
